Haryana to upgrade fleet of ambulances

Haryana 'Swasthya Vaahan Sewa' number 102 will also be upgraded, as the process to set up single call centre for ambulances all over the state has been started.

21 new Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances and 90 new Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances will be added to the fleet, an official spokesman said here today.

He said that keeping in view the popularity of this service, there had been queries from Pakistan and Vietnam regarding the implementation of this facility.

At present, 335 ambulances and 24 ALS equipped with Global Positioning System (GPS) facility are running in the state and new ambulances would be included in the fleet in next two months, he said.

Under Haryana Swasthya Vaahan Sewa, ambulance services are available round-the-clock and ambulances are stationed one each at district hospitals, sub divisional hospitals, community health centres and one for every two primary health centres.

The ambulance reach the patients in rural and urban areas within an average time of 17 minutes.

More than nine lakh patients have so far availed of the facility of this ambulance service including over 3.39 lakh pregnant women, 42,991 accident victims and 86,695 other emergency cases.

He said that with a view to make this referral transport service more comfortable and safe, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) have been trained in all advanced life support systems.
