While Haryana defeated Railways 33-27 to clinch the title, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) beat Air India 45-37 to secure the third position, whereas Air India had to settle for the fourth rank.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar felicitated the players for their outstanding performances and gave away cash prizes of Rs one crore, Rs 50 lakh and Rs 25 lakh to the top three teams, respectively.
He also gave away Rs 11 lakh to the Air India team as consolation prize. Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Anil Vij, Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar and Minister of State for Cooperation Manish Kumar Grover, were also present on the occasion.
He also inaugurated one sports nursery (hockey) each for boys and girls in Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai.
Paying glowing tributes to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on his 'smriti divas', Khattar said that the central government was observing the current year as 'Gareeb Kalyan Varsh' in IS memory.
