Additional District Magistrate Indermani Tripathi today said the police have filed chargesheets in 11 out of a total 24 cases in court.
The investigation in the remaining 13 cases is underway. Of the 11 cases, eight were registered in Ramraj police station while three were registered in Jansath police station, the ADM said.
The cases were registered against the retired revenue clerk Shiv Kumar and dismissed revenue clerk Jai Bhagwan including others for their alleged involvement in grabbing government land worth crores of rupees in Hastinapur sanctuary in the district.
During investigation, it was found that the land mafias have taken the land on lease in the name of an ashram, Tripathi said.
The authorities have cancelled the lease of 700 bighas of the sanctuary given to the ashram, the ADM said.
Precious trees valued worth Rs eight crore within the Ashram's land will be seized and handed over to the forest department, Tripathi said, adding the investigation in the matter is underway.
