The accused -- Ilam Singh, Gayani, Bhartendu Singh, Nitu, Shokender, Kunwer and Jasvir -- were sent to judicial custody up to January 7 by acting additional chief judicial magistrate Govind Rao.
Twenty-three cases have been registered so far against the alleged encroachment on government land in 27 villages in the district.
Meanwhile, police have booked three revenue clerks -- Bramsingh, Omvir and Karan Singh -- and retired revenue clerk Tika Ram and one Surender Kaur in connection with the case, naib tehsildar Harswroop told reporters here today.
