Shivam, the son of the 52-year-old actress and filmmaker Sunil Hingorani, has served as assistant director on films like "Agneepath" and "Ye Jawani Hain Deewani".
Anita, who was last seen on the big screen 2012 film "Chaar Din Ki Chandni", said she would love to star in her son's maiden directorial venture.
"He is planning to make a film this year. I definitely want to be a part of the project. I have asked him for a role as well," Anita told PTI.
"I play Rajmata, the king's mother on the show. It is a very positive character. It is unlike anything I have done till date. Its unique story made me say yes to the project," Anita said.

For her character, the actress has taken inspiration from Maharani Gayatri Devi.
"She is a role model for every woman. I have taken cues from her life for this character... She is an inspiration," the actress said.
"Right now I am very happy doing TV. I don't want to do films, but if anything interesting comes my way then I will think about it."
"Ek Tha Raja Ek This Rani" also features Drashti Dhami, Siddhant Karnik, Darshan Zariwala, Surekha Sikri and Moon Bannerjee. The show will air from July 27 on Zee TV.
