Launching a blistering attack on opposition INLD and BJP, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said his government had brought the state out of an "atmosphere of fear" which prevailed duing the INLD-BJP rule between 1999 and 2005.
Campaigning for Jagbir Singh Malik, Congress candidate from the Sonipat Lok Sabha seat, Hooda said the people used to remain scared from 1999 to March 2005, when INLD-BJP government ruled the state.
He said during the last nine years, Congress government has eliminated the "atmosphere of fear" from the state and created an atmosphere of harmony.
"The atmosphere of fear which prevailed at that time has been replaced by atmosphere of harmony now," he said.
During the tenure of Om Prakash Chautala (INLD) as Chief Minister, a reign of terror prevailed. "The people were so much scared that they could not breathe freely," he claimed.
After assuming the office of Chief Minister (first time in March 2005), the first thing he did was to make the state free from the atmosphere of panic and instill confidence among the masses.

Lashing out at opposition parties, he said both INLD and BJP have not done any good to the state.
"Instead of making progress, the state was pulled backward. But when we assumed power, we took effective steps and worked hard to put the state back on the road of development," he said.
Hooda said it is essential for any government to maintain peace and undertake development and this was done by the Congress government in the last nine years.
He said that it was necessary that people of all sections of the society work together to make Haryana more prosperous and claimed that the future of the state and the country lay with Congress.
