Syfy has decided to pull the plug on the drama series, which will air its last 13 episodes starting this October. The first half of the fifth season aired in 2014.
Showrunner Gabrielle Stanton said that although the decision to scrap the series came after they had wrapped production on the fifth season, they had been prepared for the end, reported Aceshowbiz.
Stanton promised a "satisfying" ending because the makers
approached the fifth season as the final one.
"I'm sure as a fellow TV fan, there's nothing more annoying than when a show kind of feels like it might be wrapping up, but they just don't address it, they don't come to any kind of satisfying ending.
While she believes the show's production companies eOne and Piller/Segan/Shepard are shopping the series to other networks or streaming service, she cannot talk further about it since she is "not involved in those discussions.
