To spread awareness among teenagers about sexual abuse, Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal conducted a sensitisation programme for the students of a well-known school on the law and punishment for sexual offences here today.
Justice Mittal, who is also the executive chairperson of the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA), accompanied the students of Modern School, Barakhamba Road, to a nearby police station and LNJP Hospital, where they were told about 'One Stop Centres' which provide facilities such as medical assistance and counselling to victims of sexual offences and abuse.
A statement issued by the office of the Registrar General of the Delhi High Court said the objective of the programme was to make children aware of the forms of sexual violence and to empower them to take remedial action if any such incident takes place with them or if they come to know about it.
At the same time, the students were cautioned that if they commit any such act, they could be held responsible for their action under the law.
