When the advance bail petition by Lingeswara Thilagam, husband of Sasikala and their son L Pradeep Raja came up, Justice S Vaidyanathan adjourned the matter for August 8 for the state government's reply.
Apprehending arrest in connection with a criminal case that was registered against them by Anna Nagar Police under IPC sections, including 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), the duo approached the high court.
According to the prosecution, there was a wordy duel between the petitioners and the complainant, who was not identified. It is alleged that the duo used filthy language against the complainant and also attempted to attack him.
Pushpa was expelled from AIADMK by party supremo Jayalalithaa on August 1 for "bringing disrepute to the party".
