A division bench, comprising Justice Ashim Kumar Roy and Justice I C Das, had asked the counsel of the GJM leaders to be present in the court in the second half of the day after he was not there in the pre-lunch session when the matter was called for hearing.
There was no counsel present in the court on behalf of CBI owing to the ceasework.
The plea was granted by the bench, which adjourned several other matters also owing to absence of counsel on behalf of both the litigants and the state prosecution.
Most of the other courts too wore a deserted look as a large percentage of lawyers remained absent owing to the three-day ceasework a resolution for which had been taken on June 8 by the Calcutta High Court Bar Association through a majority vote.
