The Madras High Court has admitted appeals by a Chinese consortium against the order of a single judge who dismissed their petition challenging the evaluation of tenders for a super critical thermal power project by Tamil Nadu government-owned power utility TANGEDCO and subsequent award of the contract to public sector BHEL.
"Award of contract in favour of BHEL shall be subject to the order that may be passed finally on writ appeals," the bench, comprising Justices V Dhanapalan and R S Ramanathan, before which the appeals filed by CSEPDI - TRISHE consortium came up, said.
The bench then issued a notice to TANGEDCO and posted the matter for final disposal on June 3.
CSEPDI-TRISHE consortium had sought to quash steps taken by TANGEDCO vide its September 27, 2014 letter to proceed with the tender of 2X660 MW Ennore SEZ Super Critical Thermal Power Project and challenged the award of the project to BHEL.
Single Judge V Ramasubramanian had dismissed the petitions and hence the consortium filed the appeals.
