The Madras High Court today admitted a petition filed by the mother of a class XII student who committed suicide here after failure in the board exam last year seeking a CB-CID probe on a complaint by her against officials of two schools in which her son studied.
Justice M.Sathyanarayanan, admitting the petition, directed the respondents to file reply by August 20, 2014.
Petitioner Devi, mother of Sarathkumar, alleged the ambition of her son, hailing from poor economic background, to become an engineer was curtailed by the "misconduct, irrational approach and acts of the managements of the two schools."
She submitted that she had filed a police complaint against the officials of Holly Prince Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Madipakkam, and Pole Star Matricuclation Higher Secondary School, Nanmangalam, holding them responsible for the death of her son. But police have not taken any action.
She said her son was studying in Holly Prince school and in the middle of the academic year 2012-13, its principal without any valid reason directed him to join Pole Star, saying it was also run by them and threatened to issue transfer certificate if they did not comply with it.
She alleged that with untold mental agony and depression her son attempted to commit suicide by hanging and died on May 15, 2013 without responding to treatment.
She also sought a direction to the management of the schools to pay a compensation of Rs.50 lakhs for the death of her son.
