A division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice Nitin Jamdar was hearing an application filed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on behalf of Army seeking permission to hold 'Know Your Army' function at Shivaji Park in central Mumbai.

When the Army had approached BMC seeking permission, the corporation refused to consider the application as the high court had declared Shivaji Park as a silence zone.

The court was today informed that the Army in view of 'Vijay Divas' wants to hold a 'Know your Army' fair at Shivaji Park in order to create awareness regarding army activities among citizens.

The fair is scheduled to be held on December 15 and 16. According to the application, grand scale preparations have to be done and hence the ground would be required from December 12 to 17.

Granting permission to hold the function, the high court said the corporation would be responsible to restore the ground after the fair and that no damage should be done to the cricket pitch and football ground.

The court has also said the Army should ensure that noise pollution rules are not violated.
