A division bench of Justices N H Patil and Anuja Prabhudesai took a serious note of the delayed investigation into the alleged suicide of Nitin Padalkar, who was pursuing his degree from Ramrao Adik Institute of Technology, D Y Patil Vidyanagar in Navi Mumbai.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by Nitin's father Balu Padalkar seeking CID probe into the case as the local police was not taking any action against the persons whose names were disclosed by his son in his suicide note.
On May 10, 2013, Nitin left home saying he was going to meet his friends. When he did not return home till late, his parents started searching for him. They later received a phone call from Kalyan railway police informing them that an unidentified person had died in a railway accident and requested them to come and identify the body.
Petitioner's advocate Aniket Nikam informed the court that the police had found a chit on Nitin, wherein it was categorically mentioned that he was committing suicide because of the mental harassment by two boys, who were studying with him.
The high court has directed the Kalyan police to get handwriting experts' opinion immediately and posted the petition for hearing in June.
