HC asks Delhi police to impart training for sensitising cops
Press Trust of India New Delhi Insensitive attitude of police in handling cases like rape today came under the scanner of the Delhi High Court which asked the city police to take a cue from its judicial academy and impart training to sensitise them.
"Take the module of the Judicial Academy for the sensitisation of police officers. Give them intensive training on how to handle heinous crimes particularly the issue of rape. One officer must get continuous training at least twice in a year on various crimes," the bench headed by Chief Justice D Murugeasan said and asked Delhi police to frame a training scheme on the issue.
The court's observations came when Meera Bhatia, an amicus curiae in the case, pointed out the callous and insensitive attitude of some policemen during a probe into the recent gang rape of a five-year-old girl in an east Delhi locality.
