On a plea by locality residents, alleging that the water supplied in the colony is "contaminated" and the agencies have done nothing, a bench of justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Vipin Sanghi asked MCD and DJB officials to visit the locality and collect water samples and test them.
"The officials of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the chief engineer of the South Delhi MCD are directed to go to the site at 5.30 pm tomorrow and at 9.30 am the day after tomorrow to collect water samples and send them for test," the bench said.
The bench asked the authorities to file the test report within two weeks after getting the water tested.
The court further asked the DJB official, who was present in the court, to inform it about the mechanism it has adopted for periodic check of the water in the area.
The bench was hearing a plea by the South Extension Part-I residents alleging that the storm water gets mixed with the drinking water supplied by the DJB in the area and despite their representations to the civic agencies, no action has been taken.
The residents also accused the DJB officials of being rude to them as and when they go personally to the DJB office for resolution of their problem.
The bench had earlier directed the CEO, DJB to appear before it today but the senior officer sought exemption from his personal appearance.
The bench, however, asked the DJB counsel to call another officer who deals with the case.
