Allowing plea of state level Rifle shooter Bhawana Singh, Justice G S Sistani said, "The Petitioner (Singh) will be considered eligible in the sports quota, as per the notice dated August 3, 2012 published by respondent (Jamia), in which name of the petitioner finds mention."

The court, however, asked Singh to adhere to the attendance norms of the university.

"It is made clear that petitioner will strictly adhere to the attendance norms of the university and also simultaneously participate in the sports events, on the basis of which she has been granted admission," the court added.

In her plea for admission on sports quota, Singh had said as per the prospectus for year 2012-2013, she had applied for the course under the sports quota but was denied admission on the ground that the course is not covered under sports quota.

Singh had said she had qualified the trials in her discipline of rifle shooting conducted by the university in July and her name had figured in the list of the selected candidates under the sports category.

But, later she was told to get admission in any other course than that of mass communication. (More)
