A bench of justices N Kirubakaran and V Parthiban gave the direction to the MCI while adjudicating the plea made by Dr P Ramachandran of Kattumannarkoil in Cuddalore district.
Dr Ramachandran had moved the court seeking a direction to the MCI to take into account the marks of both 'plus 2' and the National Eligibility-cum Entrance Test for the admission to under-graduate medical courses in the state.
"Therefore, without expressing any opinion on merit, this court directs MCI to consider and pass orders on petitioner's representation within three weeks. However, the larger issue in the petition is kept pending. Post after summer vacation for reporting compliance and for passing further orders," the bench said.
The vacation bench had yesterday issued notice to the MCI and posted the same for hearingtoday.
The petitioner said clause V of the MCI's notification dated December 21, 2010 had said all admissions shall be made solely on the basis of the marks secured in the NEET.
