The Gujarat High Court today directed the Superintendent of Police of Gir Somnath district to look into the probe of six criminal complaints registered against former BJP MP Dinu Solanki.
In response to a writ petition, Justice J B Pardiwala directed SP, A M Munia, to take necessary action within two weeks regarding the complaints of attempt to murder, loot, rioting, criminal intimidation and also those under Arms Act against Solanki, a former Junagadh MP.
RTI activist Mahesh Makwana, a resident of Kodinar in the district, filed the writ petition in 2013.
Solanki has also been made an accused in the RTI activist Amit Jethwa murder case by CBI. He got bail from the Supreme Court in that case last May.
Makwana alleges that the police have not carried out a proper investigation in any of the present six cases due to the political pressure from Solanki.
"The state machinery and the police officials posted in Kodinar have continuously shown that no one dares to take any action against him," it says, accusing the former MP of creating an atmosphere of terror.
