HC asks UP Govt's compensation policy details in murder cases
Press Trust of India Lucknow A division bench of the Allahabad High Court today gave two weeks time to the Uttar Pradesh government on a writ petition seeking direction for framing a clear-cut policy for providing compensation to the kins of victims of murder cases.
Through the writ petition, the activist Dr Nutan Thakur questioned the compensation given to the families of three murder victims in Kunda in Pratapgarh recently including that of DSP Zia-ul-Haque by the state government.
Petitioner's counsel Ashok Pandey today PTI that there is no clear-cut policy in the state for providing compensation to the families of murder victims and different amount is being provided by the government in different cases.
The local bench, comprising Justices Uma Nath Singh and Dr Satish Chanda, has provided two weeks time to the state government to file its reply on the petition.
