The High Court's order on September 22 withdrew all the three judges in Lunglei district and attached them with the Aizawl District and Session Judge office until further order after an unruly mob attacked court buildings, offices and residences of the judicial officers on the same day.
The rampage took place after the crowd which wanted to 'see' the face of a murder accused came to know the accused continued to be in judicial remand already by a judicial officer in a camp court.
He expressed appreciation that Lal Thanhawla government took stern and immediate action for controlling the situation as well as taking corrective measures in Lunglei district.
Welcoming the initiatives by the state government to repair damaged court buildings, offices and residential quarters, he expressed hope that, "It would bring faith, respect and confidence of the public at large, upon the pillars of the Constitution and would encourage the Legislature, Executive and the Judiciary to march ahead in tandem.
Earlier, Justice Singh, in his first letter on Friday last came down heavily on the rampaging mob and the state government observing that there was immense failure on the part of the law enforcement agencies resulting in the court rampage.
