The Madras High Court Tuesday 'closed' a plea seeking a direction to arrest Dravidar Kazhagam leader K Veeramani for his alleged provocative remarks against Lord Krishna.

Advocate K Ashok alleged that Veermani had made the remarks in the context of the Pollachi sexual harassment case.

The petitioner sought a direction from the court to arrest Veeramani.

In a counter-affidavit, Sub-Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime cell, Central Crime Branch, submitted an FIR was already registered on the petitioner's complaint and steps have been taken for deletion of the video from circulation among the public in social media.

They have also sought details of people who uploaded the video footage of Veeramani's purported remarks on social media.

It was further submitted that a notice under Criminal Procedure code was issued to Veeramani for enquiry and if he does not appear, legal action would be taken against him.

The Pollachi case relates to a four member gang allegedly trying to strip a woman inside a car near Pollachi, over 500 km from here, recording the act and blackmailing her using the visuals in February.

The case assumed political overtones since a local functionary of ruling AIADMK allegedly attacked the victim's brother.
