HC declines seeking to form committee on Tamil language
Press Trust of India Madurai The Madras High Court today declined to entertain a PIL seeking to set up a committee for the reformation of Tamil so as to enable people whose mother tongue is other laungue could easily speak Tamil.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banarjee and Justice Nisha Bhanu said Tamil was a classical language and official language in some countries and under such circumstance it was not possible to issue any order.
They said the PIL should not have been entertained at all. If such kind of a PIL is filed in future, the petitioners would be fined, the court said.
The petitioner R Chandrasekharan submitted that those whose mother tongue is not Tamil found it difficult to learn and speak the language because of the speciality of the language.
