Justice Sudhir Agarwal later released additional commissioner (Administration, Faizabad) Shailendra Kumar Singh and Principal Secretary, Stamp and Registration, Brij Mohan Meena after they tendered their unconditional apology and undertaking that such lapses will not take place in future.
In both contempt petitions, the petitioners alleged that Singh and Meena had not complied with earlier orders of the writ court.
The court had summoned both the officers, who accordingly appeared before it today. Taking a serious view against the officers, the court directed for taking both of them into custody and keeping them in jail for three days.
They submitted that they were ready to pay compensation of Rs 10,000 to each petitioner for harassment, following which the court released them forthwith.
