The single judge bench of Justice M N Bhandair was hearing a petition filed by Ritesh Tiwari, a law enforcement expert previously posted in Jaipur in the NRHM department department on contract basis.

Tiwari, who was removed from his position without any notice in August 2011, had alleged that there was serious malfunctioning in the department and he was removed because he was working for cancellation of licences of the diagnostic centres violating the law.

The court granted time to the DG, Anti Corruption Bureau to probe into the alleged irregularities, take action against the guilty sonography centres and find out officials who failed to ensure effective implementation of the law.

It said the doctors and sonologists indulged in the act of female foeticide should not be spared at any cost.

Last month, the court had ordered an inquiry into the matter by the ACB.

During the hearing today, the Additional Advocate General R P Singh admitted that the matter was of great public significance and action is being taken in this regard but requested before the court to give more time to the bureau.
