Madras High Court today directed execution of a non-bailable warrant issued against Director of Institute of Road Transport in Metropolitan Transport Corporation at Taramani in the city.
Passing orders on a petition by V Subramanian, a dismissed State Transport Corporation employee of Villupuram division, Justice R Subbiah directed the Inspector of that town's West police station to execute the NBW issued by Judicial Magistrate I there in four weeks from date of receipt of the order on IRT Director Premkumar.
The petitioner alleged he was ill-treated and humiliated in front of other workers by higher officials when he went to the corporation Headquarters at Villupuram on October 10, 2012. An officer beat him and he was shoved out of the office, he said.
He lodged a police complaint, but no action was taken, following which he moved the High Court and got a direction to register his complaint after which police registered an FIR.
Trial continued in the Villupuram Judicial Magistrate Court I. In spite of repeated summons, the seven accused, including Premkumar, the then GM, failed to appear in court.
The court then issued NBW's to all of them, after which all of them, except Premkumar, presented themselves in court and their NBWs were recalled.
As the NBW executed against Premkumar, presently the Director of IRT at Taramani, was not given effect to, the petitioner again approached the court seeking a direction for its execution.
Justice R Subbiah, who heard the matter, directed police to execute the warrant against Premkumar in four weeks.
