Justice V K Jain disposed off the petition while asking the Principal of a Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in East Delhi to give admission to 14-year-old Gauri Kumari in class 8 by July 18.
Gauri, in her petition filed through advocate Ashok Agarwal, had said she was earlier studying in Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Patparganj and had left her studies in 2010 when she was in class 6.
It said there was no provision for education in the orphanage and her mother brought her back home and approached the school authorities for admission in class 8, as appropriate according to her age.
"However, the Principal of the said refused her admission saying no seat was available," it said.
Meanwhile, on another petition, the court issued notices to Delhi government's Director of Education(DoE) and Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Nangloi in west Delhi for their response by July 29 as to why three siblings were not granted admission in the school.
