HC directs students to apologize to principal to evade arrest

Madras High Court today directed eight students of a private college, who had filed anticipatory bail pleas apprehending arrest in a ragging case, to give an undertaking that they would apologize to the principal and would never indulge in ragging in future.
Justice Nagamuthu, before whom the petitions came up, adjourned the matter for December 19 and directed police not to arrest the students of Maharaja College of Avinashi at Tiruppur District provided they give the undertaking.
The Judge recorded their submission about the undertaking.
Counsel for the students alleged that the college management had given a false complaint.
When the matter came up, the Judge said, "The students are prepared to give a letter to the Principal of college with an undertaking that they will not indulge in any type of ragging in future and also apologize."

"Hence, on submission of the above said letter of undertaking, the petitioners may not be arrested" he said and posted the matter for further hearing to Thursday.
