Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today criticised the Tamil Nadu Teachers Recruitment Board for making an evident mistake in denying job for a PG teacher under backward class (women-Tamil medium quota) and directed it to appoint her as PG Assistant within 12 weeks.
Allowing a petition by teacher Murugeswari, Justice K Ravichandrababu said the girl produced necessary university certificates during the certificate verification conducted on Oct 23,2013. However the TRB had claimed that the certificate verification was done Aug 4, 2012, which was an evident mistake. Besides it had given the date of examination wrongly.
The TRB had agreed that the Petitioner secured 91 marks, which was eligible cut off marks, and she was called for certificate verification.
The court rejected the plea of the TRB that at the time of certificate verification, the petitioner had not produced the certificate for M.A (Economics) and therefore, she was not considered for selection.
The judge said the records showed that the petitioner had obtained the certificate from Madurai Kamaraj University before certificate verification date and produced it.
The TRB were not justified in contending that the petitioner had not produced relevant certificate. TRB officials had filed the counter without applying their mind, regarding the date of verification.
The records relating to certification verification showed the petitioner was eligible, the judge said, wondering how she was found ineligible.
