HC dismisses Achuthanandan's plea
Press Trust of India Kochi The Kerala High Court today dismissed a PIL filed by V S Achuthanandan, Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly seeking a CBI probe into solar panel scam which had rocked the state in 2013.
A division bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice A M Shaffique, while dismissing the plea, said that a judicial commission is examining the matter and already 22 witnesses, including the Leader of Opposition, have given statement to the Commission.
Citing this reason, the High Court declined to interfere.
However, the bench said that all contentions made by the petitioner are left open and can be raised at appropriate stage.
The scam involving a fraudulent solar company- Team Solar-had taken a political turn after a close aide of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy was arrested for his alleged links with the accused. Two other personal staff of his office were also removed in connection with the scam.
