Calcutta High Court today dismissed as withdrawn a petition by special superintendent of police (CID) Bharati Ghosh seeking details of the cause of her transfer by Election Commission of India during the recent West Bengal Assembly poll process.
Justice Dipankar Dutta dismissed the petition as withdrawn as it was not in proper form, while giving liberty to Ghosh to file a petition in this regard afresh.
Ghosh, who was West Midnapore SP with additional charge of Jhargram police district, was made OSD (Maoist Operations) by West Bengal government before the March four poll notification.
She was, however, transferred by EC on March 19 from the post of OSD (Maoist Operations) to SSP (CID).
The EC had also later directed Ghosh not to leave Kolkata on the last day of Bengal polls, which was held on May five in Cooch Behar and East Midnapore districts.
The IPS officer moved the HC on May 20, a day after the election results were announced, seeking details of any inquiry or its findings by the EC that led to its orders.
