The Madras High Court today directed a petitioner, who wanted a direction from the court for restraining the producer and director of Tamil film "I" from showing "abusive slangs" in the film against the transgenders, to approach the Censor Board first with the request.
Justices S K Kaul and Tamilvanan of Madurai bench asked the petitioner Bharathi Kannamma, who is running a trust for the cause of transgenders, said she could first approach with the requst to the Censor Board and disposed the case.
The petitioner also sought to revoke the Censor Board certificate for the film.
The petitioner submitted that the Censor Board was duty bound to see that the movie had tried to humiliate and insult the transgenders using derogatory terms against them.
