HC frames issues in legal battle over Dawoodi Bohra successor
Press Trust of India Mumbai The Bombay High Court today framed issues in the suit filed by Khuzaima Qutbuddin, half-brother of the deceased spiritual head of the Dawoodi Bohra community Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin, challenging the appointment of the latter's son Mufaddal Saifuddin as the successor.
Whether nomination of the Dai-al-mutlaq or the spiritual head is required is among the issues framed by Justice Gautam Patel.
The court also asked the lawyers of both parties to select a scholar for translation of various Arabic texts on which they would be relying.
Both sides are to submit a list of documents they will be relying on by October 14.
Qutbuddin, 73, has claimed that he is the real successor as he was the Mazoon (the second-in-command in the community).
