The Allahabad High Court has granted two days time to Uttar Pradesh government to place its response to a plea for reinstallation of an idol of Lord Hanuman, which was found in the riverbed of Gomati, at an appropriate place with the consent of the petitioner.
Justice Shree Narain Shukla and justice Attau Rahman Masoodi of the HC's Lucknow bench passed this order yesterday on a writ petition filed by 'Shree Gomateyshwar Hanumanji Sewa Samiti' through its president.
The petitioner sought a direction for reinstallation of this idol at a proper place with rituals.
The petitioner's counsel H S Jain submitted that this old idol should be installed either at its original place or at any other appropriate place where the devotees may perform puja easily.
On behalf of the state government, the Standing Counsel prayed for two days time to seek instructions in the matter for filing its response, which was granted by the court.
"Learned standing counsel prays for and is granted two days time to seek instructions for re-installation of idol of Lord Hanuman at the appropriate place with the consent of the petitioner", the court ordered.
The idol was found recently during cleaning of river Gomti.
