Madras High Court today granted anticipatory bail to three administrators of a trust running a dental college which allegedly bribed a member of Dental Council of India for securing approval for a new course.
Justice R Subbiah granted anticipatory bail to Lakshmi, CEO of the college, G B Senthil Kumar and G B Anbalagan of Adhiparasakthi Trust set up by self-styled godman Bangaru Adigalar of Melmaruvathur.
He directed them to appear before the CBI on March 15 next and as and when required, for interrogation, in connection with the case related to the bribery.
The agency had on January 7 arrested DCI member Dr S Murukesan and three functionaries of Adhiparasakthi Dental College and Hospital. Murukesan was arrested from his clinic here for allegedly demanding Rs one crore bribe and accepting Rs 25 lakh as first instalment for approval of a new course.
Opposing the anticipatory bail pleas, Special Public Prosecutor for CBI N Chandrasekaran in his counter affidavit had said Srilekha, Managing Director of the dental college, had stated during questioning that its CEO, who is Bangaru Adigalar's wife, and its trustees deal with financial matters of all institutions run by the trust.
He said Lakshmi had to be questioned on the issue of Rs 25 lakh allegedly paid to the DCI member.
