The Madras High Court today granted anticipatory bail to DMK spokesman I Leoni in a poll-related case.
The case was registered against Leoni by Thiruthuraipoondi police charging that he had spoken at a political meeting during Lok Sabha polls in Tiruvarur district for which permission was not granted by authorities.
In his anticipatory bail plea, Leoni submitted he has no knowledge of the case registered against him and that the Judicial Magistrate at Thiruthuraipoondi issued a non-bailable warrant against him.
He contended he has not received any summons.
Granting anticipatory bail, Justice P Devadass directed Leoni to surrender before the Judicial Magistrate, Thiruthuraipoondi, within 15 days of the receipt of the copy of the order.
The Judge also directed Leoni to execute a bond for Rs 10,000 with two sureties each for a like sum.
