HC grants bail to a CPIM functionary, turns down pleas of 2

The court allowed the bail plea of H Ashokan, CPIM Onchiyam Area Committee Secretary and the 15th accused in the case relating to the brutal murder of the RMP leader in which connection several party activists have been arrested.

It, however, refused to grant bail to 16th accused K K Krishnan, Onchiyam Area Committee member and part worker P M Rameesh.

Justice N K Balakrishnan directed Ashokan to furnish a bond for Rs two lakh and two sureties for the like amount and surrender his passport, besides furnishing his telephone and house billing numbers to investigating officers.

He has been asked to appear before investigating officers twice a week and not to enter Kozhikode and Kannur districts. Ashokan also has been directed not to contact other accused and not to leave Kerala.

The order was issued by the court after perusing 12 volumes of the case diary.
