A vacation bench of Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva allowed the bail plea of Sher Singh Badshami, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) MLA from Ladwa constituency of Kurukshetra, and granted him interim bail for two months.
In the order, the court directed him to furnish a personal bond Rs 25,000 and two surety of like amount.
Badshami's counsel Amit Sahni submitted that his client is 62 years old and had been operated of sinusitis in June last year but the problem recurred and without surgery it could not be cured.
All 55 were guilty of illegally recruiting 3,206 junior basic trained (JBT) teachers in the state in 2000.
Badshami, the then political advisor to Chautala, was convicted for conspiring with the former chief minister and other accused in JBT scam case under section 120B of IPC.
All the 55 convicts were convicted and sentenced under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 418 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 471 (using forged documents as genuine) of the IPC and sections 13 (1) (d) and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
