Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court today granted bail to 80 persons, including Tamil Nationalist Movement leader P Nedumaran, arrested in connection with 'Mullivaikkal Memorial compound' demolition incident.
Justice C T Selvam also allowed anticipatory bail pleas of Natarajan, husband of Sasiskala Natarajan and two others. Sasikala Natarajan is Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's close aide.
The Judge also recorded the undertaking given by Nedumaran that they would not claim the right over National Highway property, which was allegedly encroached by the memorial.
Nedumaran and others had staged protest on November 13 after authorities demolished the compound of the Mullivaaikal Memorial in Thanjavur, built in honour of Tamil 'martyrs' in the civil war in Sri Lanka, on the ground that it encroached its land.
The arrested moved the Court after Thanjavur district court rejected their bail pleas.
