The division bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and S S Shinde was hearing the petition filed by Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), the students wing of BJP, challenging the decision of the association to boycott assessment of answer sheets till teachers' demands were met.

The association has also announced a 'Jail Bharo Andolan'.

As per the University rules, the results have to be declared within 45 days from the last date of examination.

According to the petition, 45 days have passed since the last examination got over in Mumbai and Pune, but the results are not yet out.

Advocate Uday Warunjikar, the petitioner's lawyer, argued that if results were not declared, it would delay the admission process.

The petition also says that government's decision to get the answer sheets checked by contractual and non-permanent teachers was not in students' best interests, as these teachers would not be qualified enough.
