HC notice to UP minister Aulakh
Press Trust of India Allahabad The Allahabad High Court today issued notice to Uttar Pradesh minister Baldev Singh Aulakh on a petition alleging that he had put pressure on the investigating officer in a domestic violence case of Rampur to submit a final report in favour of the accused persons.
A division bench of justices Ramesh Sinha and Umesh Chandra Srivastava also ordered that a copy of the notice issued to Aulakh, the minister for irrigation and minority welfare, be sent to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The court further directed the Superintendent of Police of Rampur to remain present on May 22, the next date of hearing in the matter, and "explain the correct position".
The order came on the petition of Nripendra Singh, a resident of Rampur who alleged that Aulakh had asked the IO in the case lodged at Civil Lines police station to submit a final report favouring the accused but when the latter refused to oblige the SP sent him to police lines acting under instructions from the minister.
Aulakh represents Bilaspur seat in Rampur.
