The Patna High Court today passed an order that cleared the decks for execution of two schemes of the Bihar government's 'seven resolves'.
The piped drinking water project and the road connectivity and the drainage project would be executed by the Ward Implementation and Management Committee (WIMC) in panchayats.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice Anil Kumar Upadhyay gave the order dismissing three petitions challenging the constitutional validity of the Bihar Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Act, 2017, and the Bihar Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Ordinance, 2017.
The court ruled that the amendment act is valid and the state government has full authority to direct panchayats to get these schemes implemented through the WIMC.
The act provided execution of the schemes on priority basis by panchayats through the WIMC under the direct supervision and guidance of the ward sabha.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's government had launched the seven development schemes naming them 'seven resolves'.
