Expressing displeasure over delay in compliance with its last month's order on transfer of Sardar Rajas Medical College students, the Orissa High Court today asked the state government to complete the admission process of the transferred students by December 23.
The court also asked the government to file a compliance report on December 24.
The High Court had on November 18 ordered the transfer of all 124 students of the defunct medical college to two government and three private medical colleges of the state asking the state government to complete the transfer process within two weeks of the order.
However, due to resistance from medicos of the two government colleges - MKCG Medical College of Berhampur and VIMSAR of Burla - the state government failed to meet the HC deadline. But nevertheless, the government in an affidavit informed the Court that last month's order would be implemented soon.
A division bench of Justices Indrajit Mahanti and D P Choudhury also on the day admitted the intervention petitions filed by the students of the government medical colleges and advised them to concentrate on their studies and not to neglect the patient care in their teaching hospitals.
Ever since the order of transfer was passed, the students of these two government colleges are on strike questioning how the students ranked much below them in AIPMT exams would be allowed to study with them. The Burla and Berhampur students are also claiming lack of facilities and faculties in their respective institutions.
