HC orders inquiry into allegations against ex-BJP minister
Press Trust of India Shimla Himachal Pradesh High Court today directed the state government to conduct an inquiry into alleged irregularities by BJP leader Kishan Kapur as Housing Minister and HIMUDA chairman, including allotment of plot under discretaionary quota to his wife.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice A M Khanvilkar and Justice V K Sharma directed that the investigation be conducted by an officer not below the rank of Superintendent of Police and a report be submitted by September 20.
In his petition, Arun Dev Bisht, a resident of Dharamsala, had alleged that Kishan Kapur misused the power of discretionary quota when he headed Himachal Pradesh Housing & Urban Development Authority under the BJP government and allotted plots in an illegal manner to his wife.
The petitioner alleged that the respondent being a person in public life and also an MLA and former minister had violated laws and regulation during construction of his hotel at Dharamsala.
