The Madras High Court bench today ordered issue of notice to the City Police Commissioner on a petition by an advocate seeking action against a police Inspector and an LLB student, who cheated several advocates by collecting money for procuring Central Government loan and promoting library in lawyers' office.
Justice P Rajendran ordered issue of notice to the Police Commissioner seeking their reply with in two weeks.
The petitioner submitted that he deposited Rs 1000 for library loan in September 2014. But the student K Kumaran did not take any action. When he asked him about it, he abused him and did not return the money.
Though there were several complaints against him no action had been taken against him.
Kumaran was handed over to the Inspector of Police S Sivakumar for misleading the advocates as if he was a practising lawyer.
But the Inspector did not take any action against him. He also gave a blank receipt for the complaint without filling the accused's name in order to help him escape, the petitioner submitted.
The court had already directed the secretary of the bar council and the DGP to tak severe action against those misusing the law profession and cheating people, the petitioner said.
