The Madras High Court today directed authorities to provide proper medical treatment to a 56-year- old autorickshaw driver, who was seriously injured when a speeding Porsche sports car rammed into some parked three- wheelers at a posh locality here on Monday.
Passing orders on a petition which alleged that the driver, Varadhan, was forcibly discharged from the government Rajiv Gandhi hospital here, Justice T S Sivagnanam ordered that he be admitted to the government super-specialty hospital and given adequate treatment.
Another auto driver was killed and some others, including Varadhan, injured when the Porsche car allegedly driven by race driver Vikash Anand in an inebriated condition, rammed the autorickshaws in which they were sleeping in the wee hours of September 19.
Petitioner Vegan, son of Varadhan, submitted that the personnel in the government hospital forcibly discharged his father on September 19 evening itself despite objections and sought quality treatment.
Stating that he had submitted a representation yesterday complaining about the premature discharge, he sought a court direction to the state Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Health Secretary to conduct an inquiry into the pre-mature discharge.
Anand has been arrested by police after the mishap.
