Seeking to quash an FIR registered against him by the Baragarh police for his alleged involvement in the attack on union ministers Santosh Gangwar and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, the local MLA had approached the High Court.
After a preliminary hearing on the plea, Justice B K Nayak directed the local police to submit the case diary in the court within four weeks and asked the prosecution not to take any action against the petitioner.
Registering a case under 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC, the Baragarh police had booked several BJD workers, including the MLA. The BJD workers had also shown black flags to the union ministers protesting against their visit to Baragarh.
