Justice Arijit Banerjee quashed the notification on a petition challenging its legality by a section of the pensioners.
The Left Front government had, after coming to power in the state in 1977, initiated an 'Assistance to political sufferer scheme', their counsel Bikash Bhattacharya said.
Pension to political prisoners was stopped through a notification by the present dispensation on January 15, 2013, he stated.
The state government opposed the prayer claiming that the pension was aimed at giving doles to people close to the Left Front and as such it was a politically motivated scheme.
