The Bombay High Court today pulled up
the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for its "insensibility" towards security arrangements in the city airport.
A division bench of Justices R M Savant and Sadhana Jadhav had last month directed the AAI and the authorities concerned to file an affidavit listing all the steps taken to prevent potential terror attacks or security breaches.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by advocate Yashwant Shenoy, highlighting the lax security arrangements around the airport.
The bench today referred to the affidavit submitted by the AAI and said it was merely "perfunctory" and did not answer any of the court's questions.
"We are surprised that even when the security of the airport and safety of travellers was concerned, the AAI was being so insensible," Justice Savant remarked.
The court directed the AAI, the Union government and the Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL) to file "exhaustive affidavits" within two weeks.
