The Madras High Court today refused to take suo motu action on a report in an English daily on addition of new names in voters list in Tamil Nadu.
The bench, comprising Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice M Sundar, declined to accede to the prayer of advocate S Muthukrishnan when he made a mention of the report here today and wanted it to take suo motu action.
The report stated that more than 10.22 lakh voters have been added in the electoral rolls between October 2016 to January 1,2017 in Tamil Nadu.
It said the highest inclusion of 6,924 voters in the electoral rolls in a Chennai constituency in the last three months was in R K Nagar.
This was the constituency from where late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa won the May 16, 2016 assembly polls.
